Initiatives

Here are some long-term initiatives hosted by JETAABC.

Metro Vancouver Japan Bowl

The Japan Bowl® is a Japanese language and culture competition for high school students who are studying Japanese. The Japan-America Society of Washington DC organized and hosted the first Japan Bowl in 1992. The inaugural Canadian Japan Bowl was hosted by JETAABC in Vancouver.

J-Link

JETAABC J-Link is a public directory that provides an opportunity for JET alumni to explore various industries and organizations, and then connect with a fellow member of the JET community who has experience in the field.

Yomi-Kai

JETAABC Yomi-Kai is a reading club created for JET Alumni, JETAA Friends and community members to gather to discuss and discover short stories by Japanese Authors in translation or by Japanese Canadian authors.

JET Pre-Departure Orientation

Every year, JET alumni from JETAABC volunteer to support the Consulate of Japan in Vancouver in its JET Programme preparation work. At the Pre-Departure Orientation, alumni share their expertise and enthusiasm with the next JET generation.

This page of orientation resources is accessible only to current-year departing JETs. For information about the JET Programme, please visit the JET Programme Canada website or contact JETAABC.
