Here’s a look back at our Sunday, October 16th Imoni-Kai. This is our annual outdoor tradition where we cook and enjoy traditional taro root stew from Yamagata which is enjoyed all over the Tohoku region of Japan. We were grateful to have unseasonably sunny weather, delicious stew and snacks, acoustic music, and good company!

August 28th Sports Day Recap

What a perfect sunny Sunday to gather for our JETAABC Sports Day!

On August 28th, we had a blast with all sorts of activities, including the classic Rajio Taiso Daiichi, tug of war, wrestling, relays and human wheelbarrow races. There were a mix of participants including JET alumni, their families, and friends from the wider Japanese-Canadian community. Thanks again to the organizers and everyone who came out!

Call for Nikkei Matsuri Volunteers

The Nikkei Matsuri, one of Canada’s largest authentic and family-friendly Japanese festivals, returns to Nikkei Centre in Burnaby this summer for its 10th anniversary! The Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre needs support to make this event a success.

It’s that time of year again! Celebrating Japanese-Canadian Culture for 46 years, the Powell Street Festival is Vancouver’s longest community arts celebration! You can be a part of this year’s festival taking place July 30th  and 31st.

We are looking for amazing alumni to help out at our community booth on Saturday, July 30th from 11:00am.
